POSITION: SHARED ISLAND PROJECT DIRECTOR
OFFICE BASE: Dublin & Remote
REPORT TO: Director of Public Policy
OVERALL PURPOSE AND ROLE DESCRIPTION
_The Shared Island: Shared Practices project _is an exciting joint
initiative of The Wheel and NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for
Voluntary Action) supported by the Reconciliation Fund to engage
communities across the island of Ireland around shared challenges. The
project will bring people and communities north and south together to
explore key themes, make plans to work together, and showcase _what
works_ in our communities. It will identify emergent local, regional,
and all-island-level responses to challenges such as Covid**Apply on
the website**, Brexit, sustainable prosperity, health, well-being,
digital transformation, remote working and more. Outputs will include
published reports, workshops, podcasts, regular communications, and a
plan for future shared island collaboration around these themes.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a very experienced person to devise, manage and
implement a complicated and sensitive nine month engagement process to
bring community and voluntary organisations and other stakeholders
together north and south to identify potential collaborative
opportunities under five key themes, and publish reports with
recommendations. The themes are:
* digital connectedness/remote working
* sustainability/SDGs/climate change;
* rural connectivity and social and economic life;
* social enterprise
* needs highlighted by the Covid **Apply on the website** experience
The person will also devise, manage and implement a communications
plan (including podcasts) to promote engagement in the project and
communicate the results and recommendations. This will include
responsibility for liaising with and ensuring delivery of support from
external contractors engaged to provide services (where relevant).
The person will have overall responsibility for the management and
successful delivery of - the project and will be responsible for
liaising with core staff (and potential subcontractors where relevant)
of the teams of both The Wheel and NICVA in implementing the project.
The person will have the full support of core staff of both
organisations in the management and implementation of the project.
